Our products are made with rain-fed cotton and hand-spun wool, rooted in an ethos of fairness. The blocks are chiseled by hands trained by generational DNA of artisans in rural India. Our designs are inspired by what surrounds us – the beauty we see, the traditions we cherish, and the stories we wish to pass on. At Sooteē, we are committed to minimising waste and honouring the timeless art of handcrafting, creating pieces that are bound to become heirlooms.

Natural linens and pure cottons form the foundation of the collection, woven and printed by hand in India. Each textile is shaped through hand block printing and weaving, where layers of colour are built slowly using carved wooden blocks. A belief in the beauty of imperfection runs through the work. The time and care this process demands create subtle variations, no two pieces are ever exactly alike, it is within these nuances that each textile finds its character.

With a background in design and styling, and later studies at Parsons School of Design in New York, Kaushiki Gon moved away from conventional ways of working towards a more considered approach to making. Sooteē reflects a craft led philosophy, rooted in artisanal practices and traditional techniques that respect both material and environment. In India, where the collections are made, she works alongside artisans, allowing their knowledge and gestures to guide the work.
